The rumors are indeed true, a royal baby is on the way. Prince William and his wife of 19 months, Catherine, are expecting their first child.
The pregnancy was first rumored in the month of September when Catherine substituted water for her wine during a state dinner toast in Singapore. The tabloids began buzzing two weeks ago when more evidence of the pregnancy became apparent.
As a result of an amendment to British law, the baby, whether boy or girl, will become the next heir to the throne of England after Prince William. The tradition of the male superseding a female heir is soon to be history.
The palace has not yet announced a due date for the new member of the royal family, however, it is known that Catherine is in the concluding week of her first trimester.
Although a royal baby was widely expected, how Catherine’s body has been responding to the phenomenon is not. The royal news came as a result of Catherine’s admittance to a hospital this last week for acute morning sickness.
The palace revealed that she suffers from an illness called hyperemesis gravidarum. This illness causes severe nausea and vomiting that is atypical in a normal pregnancy. She is expected to spend some time in the hospital before returning home, requiring an extended period of rest.
This reveal proves to be a happy one for the British as well as for the rest of the world. The real life fairytale couple is continuing their story and bringing the world a fairytale child.
